About Griz Days

Held each winter since 1978, Griz Days is the community of Fernie, British Columbia’s annual winter festival. The festival celebrates the community’s connection to winter and the legendary mountain man, the Griz - a hero in these parts - who with the help of his musket, helps coax the snow from the sky, gracing the region with an astounding annual snowfall of over 29 feet annually

In recognition and admiration of the man who became know as "GRIZ", the town's people hold a festival with sporting events, competitions, parades and gatherings to mark the gala week. The citizen who best embodies the spirit of "Griz" through that week was made honorary Griz for the rest of the year. To this day this festival continues every March in tribute to the powder king.

so thats basicaly what its all about, so things kicked of last night with the parade.

after the parade we went to snow valley lodge and played drinking games, well everyone else did i just had a cup o tea since i was feeling so ill

if anyone disobeyed the rules or if the ref just wanted to be evil, u had to wear the jaeger hat and down a shot, there was a lot of flaunting the rules, a whole bottle disapeared in about an hour!
